“Creating Tomorrow’s Readers”

Good literacy and reading skills build the foundation for education.

In support of early literacy, the Friends of the Harris County Public Library partner with the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, a Georgia organization that mails books on a monthly basis to children under the age of five at a cost of $36 per year per child. Parents enroll their child in this program at no cost. As a non-profit organization, we raise the funds to cover the costs for Harris County children. In addition, we support the educational and enrichment programs of our public library and maintain free “Little Town Libraries” located throughout the county.

Adopt a Reader – Become a Member

For $36 a year, you can adopt a reader and make an impact on our community. Or, you may select another giving level that—in addition to adopting a reader—will help cover costs for educational and enrichment programs facilitated by the Harris County Public Library.

We value all supporters who help with our mission.
