Borrowing

The Troup-Harris Regional Library is a member of PINES, statewide lending consortium, which gives you access to more than 10 million books and other materials.  Anyone can get a FREE library card if you live in Georgia, attend school in Georgia, work in Georgia, or own property in Georgia.  Anyone else can get a library card for a $25 annual fee or $12.50 for 6 months.

You can apply for a card by visiting you local library.  You will need proper Identification that includes a current local address.  Acceptable IDs are listed in the FAQ below.

Get a digital card by visiting  PINES catalog and selecting Apply for a PINES Library Card at the top.  The digital card will give you access to our digital resources.  At any time you can come into the library and convert your account to have full privileges.
Library Card FAQs
What ID do I need to get a library card?
You will be required to provide proper ID, which includes current, local address. Acceptable ID for receiving a PINES card (3 choices):
  1. Photo ID which shows the applicant's current local address, OR
  2. Photo ID which does not include current local address plus one item from the list of acceptable address verification documents, OR
  3. TWO (2) items from the list of acceptable address verification documents.

Acceptable Photo ID:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport
  • Valid US Military ID
  • Valid matricula consular
  • Valid Georgia Weapons Carry License

Acceptable Address Verification Documents (must show applicant's name and current address):

  • Valid Georgia voter registration card
  • Recent utility bill (e.g., gas, electric, cable, internet, water/sewer, waste management)
  • Recent tax receipt or other piece of mail that shows the user’s name and present address
  • Recent pay stub
  • Current lease/rental agreement
  • County tax assessor records
  • Official base assignment documentation (for current military and family members)
Can I get a card if I am under 18?
Yes anyone can get a library card.  If you are under 18 you will need a parent or guardian to accompany you when applying and present the required documentation.  
What do I do if I lose my card?
Bring your ID to the library and we will gladly replace your card.  
How many items can I check out?
You can check out 50 total items, but of those only 15 DVDs.  Libby (ebooks & audiobooks) allows checkout of 10  total items.
Can I renew items?
Most items can be renews twice if they have not been requested by another patron.  You can renew items at the library, over the phone, on the PINES app, or online at www.gapines.org
How much are overdue fines?
At this time the Troup-Harris Regional Library is giving amnesty to late fines.  You will see late fines accrue in your account but they will be forgiven when you return the item.  Lost item and damage fees will still be charged.  Please bring back your items in a timely manner so they are available to others.
